PROFESSIONAL PROFILE:

 

           Steven joined Chilton Yambert & Porter as a Partner in 2007.  He is admitted to practice in both Illinois and Wisconsin. Steve’s practice includes transportation, tort and insurance litigation in both Federal and State courts.  He has written and lectured on subjects relating to his practice areas, including the topics of on-scene investigation, preparing drivers and transportation witnesses for litigation, as well as risk and claims management issues.  Steve is an Arbitrator for American Arbitration Association and for Mandatory Court Annexed Arbitration Program for the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit.

 

            With over 30 years of practice, Steve has represented both large and small businesses and individuals, as self insured’s and as insured’s on behalf of insurance companies and captives. The focus of his practice is complex civil litigation, casualty defense and trial practice primarily in the areas of transportation and construction. He acts as national and regional counsel for major insurance companies nationwide. He is licensed to practice in both Illinois and Wisconsin on the state and federal levels. He is a member of the federal trial bars in Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana. In addition to his litigation experience, Steve frequently publishes and lectures nationwide to insurance companies, businesses, industry organizations and other groups on subjects relating to his practice areas. He is annual guest lecturer at the University of Denver, Strum School of law. He has been the Co-Chair of the Annual Chicago Seminar for the Transportation Lawyers Association since 1994 and is active in numerous defense organizations. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois-Champaign (1970) and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Notre Dame (1973). In addition, he is a graduate of the Insurance Counsel Trial Academy and the Illinois Lawyers Post Graduate Clinic-Trial Technique Institute. Among his various awards and honors include the Distinguished Service Award from the Transportation Lawyers Association and The Meritorious Service Award from the American Heart Association. Along the way he has been named as Illinois Super Lawyer in Transportation Litigation, Chicago Magazine and Law & Politics Magazine, from 1995 to present and has been named a Illinois Leading Lawyer and listed among Illinois Top Lawyers in Transportation Defense and General Personal Injury by Leading Lawyers Network Law Bulletin Publishing Company, from 2005 to present and has always maintained Martindale-Hubbell AV Rating.
